Accessibility
We hold ourselves to our own rules.
WebPo grades other sites on accessibility, so ours has to pass too. Our target is WCAG 2.2 level AA.
What we do
- Text and buttons meet a 4.5:1 contrast ratio in both the paper and night themes.
- Everything works with a keyboard, with a visible focus outline and a "Skip to content" link.
- Tap targets are at least 44 by 44 pixels on phones.
- Animations switch off when your device asks for reduced motion.
- Images of evidence have written descriptions, and every case file has a text version of its findings.
- Pages work from 320 pixels wide with no sideways scrolling, and text can be zoomed to 200%.
Known gaps
- The Spot the Crime and Daily Crime games are visual puzzles. Each crime is also listed in a text evidence log, and the games work with a keyboard and screen reader, but they are easier with sight.
- Videos on case files are added over time; captions are required before a video is published.
